East African Wild Black Frankincense
Boswellia neglecta — the wild black frankincense of East Africa. Harvested from the semi-arid drylands of Kenya, Ethiopia, and northern Somalia, neglecta produces a darker resin than its more famous cousins and yields an oil with a smoky, slightly fruity character. Used traditionally by Borana, Somali, and Oromo communities as an aromatic incense, neglecta is a rarely-bottled variety that brings a wholly different aromatic dimension to a frankincense collection.
